AGENDA:

9:00 – 9:30  Setup

9:30 – 11:00:  Penny Swoyer – Manx Block (Hand Sewn)

Supplies Needed:

    • (1) 9” square for foundation/backing fabric
    • (1) 3” square for center block
    • Several 2” strips of lights and darks. Enough for 4 rounds of logs.
    • Scissors, needle, pins and thread. Thread color should blend with the backing/foundation fabric.

11:00 – 11:30 – Peg Williams – Wonky Block

Supplies Needed: Machine, Scissors, Neutral colored thread, and possibly pins.

    • Peg will bring a handout and materials for a 6” block.

11:30 to 12:30 – Peg Dougherty – Fast Piecing 6” Blocks

Supplies needed: Machine, thread to match background fabric, scissors, possibly pins.

  • Materials needed to make (5) 6” blocks:
  • Five six inch blocks of desired background fabric
  • Miscellaneous traditional fabrics (mixture of colors). If you have a box of scraps, that will probably work, as-long-as the pieces have a little size to them, to cut pieces to fit on the 6” block.  NOTE:  If you want, bring colors that compliment one another and when all 5 blocks are done, you will be on your way to using them in one bigger project.

12:30 -1:00 Lunch break

1:00 – 2:00 or 2:30 – Sue Hannah

Supplies needed:  Machine, thread, scissors, pins.  (Note:  We will need to use the cutting board and iron.  I have two cutting boards I can bring and one large iron, and one small iron.  I have two rulers I can bring.  Feel free to bring your own if you are able.

  • Multiple Half Square Triangles – 2 pieces of coordinating fabric 10 ½ inches square and 2 pieces of coordinating fabric 8 ½ inches square. (I would suggest a light background and then a focus fabric or black and a focus fabric.)
  • Squaring Up Blocks
  • No Waste Flying Geese
  • 1 – Focus fabric 6 ½ inch square.
  • 4 – Background fabric at 3 ½ inches square
  • Miscellaneous items can be discussed and we will (as a group) see if we can share our knowledge with others depending on the questions/concerns posed.

In addition:

  • Mary Thomas has offered to teach English Paper Piecing
  • Mary Bannister has offered to teach us how to put in a zipper. If anyone wants to learn or be updated on adding a zipper, they just need to bring their machine and their zipper foot. Mary B. will provide the material and zippers.  We need to know if you are interested. Please contact Sue Hannah to sign up.

If you are interested in one or both of these techniques, please call me (Sue Hannah) at 443-866-8173 (after 4:00) so I can let these instructors know and determine what supplies are needed.

If you have any questions, please contact me.

Thanks,

Sue Hannah
